Understand STOP, START, and SMS consent

Respect customer messaging choices and know how consent changes affect the composer.

Steps

  1. Review the consent indicator before sending an outbound text.
  2. Treat recognized STOP-like commands as a block and do not work around it on the same channel.
  3. Treat a recognized START-like command as the customer's request to allow messaging again, subject to policy.
  4. Use the manual block or allow control only when you have a legitimate, documented reason.

Important notes

  • Consent state is customer protection, not a delivery troubleshooting switch.
